Meet the Board of Directors
Coordination
The coordination team developed the mission, vision, and values statements, compiled a list of possible grantees, and manages class correspondence and communication.
Grace Rafferty (she/her)
Grace is majoring Human Services and Social Justice and Music, and getting her Masters in Public Administration. She combines her background in the arts with her service experience as a researcher for the John F. Kennedy Center's Social Impact department that pursues art for non-art outcomes.
Caroline Sherer (she/they)
Caroline is a senior in the Human Services and Social Justice program at George Washington University. She is minoring in Psychological & Brain Sciences and is also in the University Honors Program. During her time working as an AmeriCorps member with Jumpstart—a program that fosters social-emotional, literacy, and language learning in preschool students—and as a federal intern for the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration's Office of Recovery, she has developed a passion for pursuing mental health equity in young children. After graduation, she plans to begin her Master of Social Work degree this upcoming fall.
Morgan Fu (she/her)
Morgan is a fourth-year combined-degree student at the George Washington University. She will graduate in May 2024 with a BA in Political Science and Human Services & Social Justice, and in May 2025 with a Master of Public Administration. During her time in the HSSJ program, she has worked with many organizations whose missions are to make education more equitable, such as The Latino Student Fund, Ethiopian Community Development Council, Horton's Kids, and The Fishing School. After graduation, Morgan plans to become a Teach for America Corps member to have a deeper understanding of the issues affecting school districts before moving to work in policy for education reform. She is excited to contribute to the GW Arc Foundation's mission and provide organizations with funds to help achieve their own mission.
Catherine Flannery (she/her)
Catherine is a fourth year student enrolled in the Master of Public Administration Combined Degree Program. She will be graduating with a BA in Human Services and Social Justice, and a minor in Political Science in May 2024. She has loved working with various nonprofits in the DMV throughout her time at GW and is excited to make an impact through her position on the GW Arc Foundation board.
Foundation Development
The foundation development team worked to create an accessible Request for Proposals (RFP), handles all inquiries surrounding the application process, and will hold a workshop for those wishing to gain guidance on their submissions.
Alina Lee (she/her)
Alina, a senior at George Washington University purposing her B.A. in Human Services & Social Justice with a minor in Marketing. Alina works to combine her expertise in business strategy and impact-driven work to empower nonprofits and their communities. Other interests include ceramics, photography, and traveling.
Kira Galbraith (she/her)
Kira, originally from Berkeley, California, is a senior majoring in human services and social justice, with a minor in Spanish.
Tia Hood (she/her)
Tia is a senior double majoring in Political Science and Human Services and Social Justice. She has worked with multiple nonprofits through the HSSJ program, including Horton's Kids, Foggy Bottom West End Village, Our Stomping Ground, and Rock Creek Conservancy. She has loved getting to immerse herself in the D.C. community and gain hands-on experience through her coursework. Tia plans to begin working on her Master's of Political Science this coming Fall.
Angela Zhu (she/her)
Angela is a fourth-year undergraduate student at The George Washington University, majoring in Human Services & Social Justice with minors in Criminal Justice and Public Policy. Throughout her studies she developed passion for direct service, having served at DMV nonprofits such as Pathways to Housing, In The Streets, and Horton's Kids. Angela believes in people first, and hopes to carry her learnings in the work she does.
Media and Communications
The media and communications team manages the website, monitors the email, and updates the social media weekly with informational graphics about the foundation’s mission, social issue, and progress throughout the semester.
Vito Oliveri (he/him)
Vito is a fourth year undergraduate student at the George Washington University. He will be graduating in May 2024 with a BA in Human Services and Social Justice. Throughout his years at GW, he has volunteered at various organizations in the DMV area including Horton’s Kids, 826DC, and FRESHFARM FoodPrints. After he graduates, he plans to explore the accessibility of early childhood education in underserved communities. He’s looking forward to contributing to the realization of the GW Arc Foundation this semester.
Lilian Martinez-Orellana (she/her)
Lilian is a first-generation college student who is an advocate for health equity and healthcare access for undocumented immigrants. She recently ended her year-long internship with the Milken Institute where she was in charge of their social media accounts. She hopes to work as a patient advocate for Latinas in the oncology space.
Gianna Galdieri (she/her)
Gianna is a senior at The George Washington University pursuing a BA in Human Services and Social Justice with a minor in Sustainability. Gianna is passionate about social change and serving communities disproportionately impacted by the effects of climate change. She hopes to make a positive difference in people's lives through her experience in the nonprofit sector by finding innovative ways to increase access to mental health services in underserved communities.
Tala Alshathry (she/her)
Tala is a senior majoring in Human Services and Social Justice. She is committed to advocating for others and driving social change. Her work focuses on building more equitable communities and aiming to strengthen the impact of nonprofits through active engagement and her passion for justice.
Diana Contreras (she/her)
Diana Contreras is a first-generation college student at George Washington University. She will graduate in the spring of 2024 with a BA in Human Services & Social Justice. Throughout her years at GW, she has volunteered at various organizations in the Washington DC area including Little Friends for Peace, In the Streets, and Children’s Defense Funds. After she graduates, Diana plans to continue advocating and exploring accessibility to welfare for undocumented children.
Halle Evans (she/her)
Halle is a senior at The George Washington University studying Human Services and Social Justice. She looks forward to creating real change with her class and the recipient of the GW Arc Foundation grant 2024.
Proposal Review and Evaluation
The proposal review and evaluation team is responsible for developing our foundation’s evaluation rubric and selection criteria, training board members on the evaluation form, screening applications, and coordinating final award discussions.
Rubini Hernandez (she/her)
Rubini is a senior at the George Washington University set to graduate in May 2024 with a BA in Human Services and Social Justice. Raised in a family of educators, she’s grown a passion for educational equality and aspires to pursue a career in developing educational programs for students.
Hayden Moussa (they/them)
Hayden is pursuing a double B.A. in human services & social justice and criminal justice from George Washington University. They work paraprofessionally in early education and participates in activism for the liberation of all oppressed peoples. They also serve as the president of the GW chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, a gender inclusive community service fraternity, of which they’ve been a member since 2020.
Eva Morrow (she/her)
Eva is a senior majoring in Human Services and Social Justice with a minor in Criminal Justice. She has worked with various DC organizations to promote equity and justice within the legal and education systems. Eva is committed to creating meaningful change in her community, and is excited to be a part of the GW Arc Foundation.
Demi Amigun (he/him)
Demi is a Senior from Newark, New Jersey, currently pursuing a double major in Political Science and Human Services & Social Justice with a minor in Law & Society at GW. He is also a member of the GW Men’s Soccer team. During his time at GW, Demi has worked with various nonprofit organizations in D.C. to promote positive change in the community. With plans to attend law school, Demi hopes to use his ability to advocate for those who have been condemned, neglected, and taken advantage of in our society.
